Michael Tran (a very keen 4WD’er), has put his own Maxxis Razrs to the test at Blue Rag Range, an iconic range in Victoria’s high country which serves up off-road conditions not for the faint hearted!
Taking to this hugely testing track (think formidable off-road Great Alpine Road conditions and Mt Hotham heights!) for a bit of weekend adventure in his downtime, Michael Tran said that despite its formidable reputation, Blue Rag was no challenge for his Razrs: “It was a Sunday walk in the park. They were comfortable on the dirt and with their big self-cleaning shoulders clawed through the loose rocks to take me to the top.”
Next test was the Crooked River Track to Talbotville, consisting of no less than 24 river crossings with steep muddy entry and exit points. Once again, the Razrs were up for the contest: “My Razrs weren’t phased by the river’s rocky base – they were aggressive, their tread clawed and dug its way through to ensure I had the utmost traction,” Michael says.
Moving on to Billy Goats Bluff, one of the steepest challenging 4×4 tracks in Victoria with a reputation for testing vehicles, tyres and drivers – was Michael’s next experiment, and again the Razrs stood up to rigorous testing. “Having absolute confidence in my Razrs was key to conquering this iconic track. Certain areas of Billy Goats Bluff is so incredibly steep you can’t even walk it — but the Razrs made it look easy!”
Quite a feat, if we say so ourselves (and if you don’t believe us, check out Michael’s incredible photos)! We know which tyres we’d be trusting in challenging conditions like these…
